Food Pantry

The SonShine Ministries Food Pantry is an outreach mission of Union Church. Our mission began as a thrift store and food pantry combined at a store location in the village of Quincy and in 1985 was relocated within the church following a new addition to the church building.

We are open every Thursday (except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years when they fall on Thursdays) from 9AM to 5PM, except on Christmas Eve, when we close at 3PM.

Our ministry is designed to help those less fortunate so they don’t have to decide between nourishing their family or paying bills with what little money they have. With our help, they can be nourished and ready both physically and mentally for work and school.

Clients may come fro food assistance every three weeks and can receive up to 35 pounds of food depending on the size of their family.

We serve the areas of Quincy, Allen, Montgomery, Reading, and Alagansee. We also serve any family outside these areas if they have children currently in the Quincy Community School district or pay Quincy school taxes.

If you feel led by God to become a volunteer, please call the church office at 517-639-9535 and leave a message for Val Morris with your name and phone number. Our volunteers work in shifts from 9-12, 12-3, and 3-5. We can always use extra help. The work consists of weighing and bagging/boxing items that clients receive and writing down and filing client information.
